Public housing
Service delivery is a common phrase in South Africa used to describe the distribution of basic resources, citizens depend on resources like; water, housing, sanitation, electricity and infrastructure.
Certain areas and communities in the Ventersdorp area have experienced a shortfall of free housing. Some of these areas are Tsetse, Welgevonden, Goedgevonden, Boikhutso and Boikhutsong as mentioned in the North West Local Government and Human Settlements. Free housing to the poor is a basic and important provision that any government must commit to and a department which Ventersdorp has possibly under performed in. Chapter 2, Section 25(1), further agrees that no one should be deprived property except in terms of law of general application, and no law may permit arbitrary deprivation of property.
However, it is also important to practise fairness in any argument and provide a balanced answer to the discussion. According to the North West Local Government and Human Settlement article, there was an initial phase of 1000 units to complete which they discovered to be insufficient. In view of this discovery, the MEC (Member of Executive Committee) announced an additional 800 houses across the 5 mentioned villages would be provisioned for.
The Batho Pele White Paper states that the South African Public Service will be judged by one criterion; its effectiveness in delivering services that meet the basic needs of all South African citizens on the other hand the aim was to evaluate the implementation of the principle of the Batho Pele White Paper as a detective government regulation on service delivery, by the South African public service; specifically South Africa.
I feel that the government should ensure that the Reconstruction and Development Plan that was implemented should be sped up to avoid services being overdue as it might lead to citizens losing faith in our local municipalities.
My fellow Compatriots do not hesitate to engage me on the matter at hand.
