UNEMPLOYMENT:  OUR CROSS TO BEAR

Designing a better SA: Unemployment and its fatal effects on our youth

Unemployment and its resolutions has for years been but a chasm which thought, energy and money has gone into with no results. We as designers can turn this around with our new aesthetic views, making our co-creations one of development and growth helping to create more jobs and job opportunities for the youth of our new generations

Accepting that unemployment has current causes is the necessary first step in fixing the problem. But as  long as we cite historical causes, we are bound to live  in a fantasy world where unemployment can only be addressed when the legacy of apartheid itself is finally addressed.

Rather than being trapped in a paradigm of blame and entitlement, it is up to all who call South Africa home to shift the way we think about these issues and to tap into some of the changes and co-creations for change of 1994 and 2017 to find a way out of this crisis .If you reward non-performance then you get non-performance.

The balance of fair exchange has been educated out of us, and that balance would need to be restored if we are  to seriously consider tackling unemployment.A national strategy on Entrepreneurship could offer a solution to the unemployment figure, currently sitting at  42.48% of young South Africans.

Jobs are created by the private sector within the conditions as determined by the state. In South-Africa  we need a renewed attempt at collaboration between the state, business and labor to place the country on a new growth trajectory away from conflict to joint goals around economic growth that creates jobs.we thus use paradigm shifts to help us with development  in our Cannibalistic state

Let us not break their dreams and efforts with our lack of capabilities and destructive systems, but rather improve and find new ways of designing a better South-Africa,like Gavin Mangeni said move from process to purpose
