S U 2 Listening to and responding to music

For me music ignites all area of child development and skills for school readiness, including intellectual, motor, language, social-emotional and overall literacy. It helps the body and mind to work together. Dancing to songs during gumboots dance helps children build motor skills while allowing them to practice self- expression. Counting stomps and clapping is interacting with mathematics. Sing songs improves your speech and language development.

Body percussion: It is producing sounds by using your body, through hand clapping, thigh-slapping, stomping, finger-snapping, inhaled and exhaled air. Traditionally the four main body percussion sounds: 1. Stomp: Striking left, right, or both feet against the floor or other resonant surface 2. Patsch: Patting either the left, right, or both thighs with hands; or patting cheeks 3. Clapping hands together 4. Snapping fingers

These activities also provide opportunities to foster learners’ concentration skills, creativity and improvisational skills as they can create their own body percussion patterns and write them down using iconic notation

coordination, balance and visual-spatial awareness. When learners are able to successfully participate in body percussion activities, they experience personal development by gaining confidence, becoming self-aware, experiencing a sense of achievement, pride and learning discipline

Mokgadi Elizabeth Mathibedi. Born and bred in the dusty township of Alexandra North of Johannesburg, now I am in Pretoria Newlands. For me teaching is a calling since I was in primary my neighbours and friends used to call me mistress till today my family also call me mistress as I has a passion of working with children as they are angels. LSKM 221 reminds me of my childhood when in the township where we will listen to different types of music for different type of people, religions, cultures and beliefs. I am expecting to learn more and do practical projects models of instruments.

Part 1 Week

Very hectic as I started teaching coding grade 1-6 using micro bit. I am doing my level best towards my studies as it is so expensive to study especially at my age. I am no longer a youngster any more. Helping my late brother' daughter who died of ulcer  this year also lost her mother last year due to kidney failure it is not easy but as an aunt, my wish is to see her progressing not feeling the gap of not having parent at a tender age of 9 in grade 4, As I had to help her design a guitar this is good collaboration for me is a matter of each one teach one.

Part 2

Rules are very important and I should adhere to them as a Lego Robotics teacher you must improve your skills as technology is inventing new innovation ideas that need to attend workshops all the time. Micro Bit from Amakhoding to let a grade 1 learner touch, feel, see and hear the device was pretty good.

Part 3

We are a rainbow in S.A we must learn to respect and embrace each other, as music brings people together and heals the nation. Your roots is your roots, it bring a sense of belonging.
