Ive learnt alot in this module since we've started the semester , I didn't know music has such influence in children's lives and I didnt also know it had principles and theories . Unit 1 I have learnt that there are Eriksons stages of psychosocial development , that children in foundation phase fall under the fourth stage being industry vs inferiority .This stage means that children need to be praised for doing good things or rewarded so that they can feel proud and confident . This means that teachers have to do that more often in class to increase the level of success in the classroom . I've also learnt about Piaget cognitive development theory that says children build new knowledge  based on their existing knowledge  and their experience . We must also know children think differently from adults. Foundation phase learners fall under pre-operational and concrete operational stages . On Vygotsky's zone of proximal we learn that there are certain things that children can do on their own and there are things they cannot do on their own , they need assistance on them , guidance or collaboration learning . Unit 2 I've learnt alot about the music elements .I didnt know there are elements in music and that was one of the challenging part of music for me . It took alot of time for me to finally understand them and know how to differentiate them . I know that music elements are there to create music when we combine them . Tone is a certain element that gives music its characteristic sound meaning that a unique sound . Elements  include pitch , intensity , quality and duration. Unit 3 We learnt about play . I've learnt that there are two different types of play which includes play that is not instructed which means that learners choose their own game,  their own instruction and the songs they use , then theres a game that has a set of instruction , a specific song while the teacher is there observing. I've also learnt that the games could include circle games , singing games, dancing games and rhythm games . These games help learners alot besides having fun and enjoying . It helps them with working together , creativity , discipline , transformation and therapeutic effects . They also enhance their vocabulary and their skills . Unit 4 Art integration plays a huge role in a classroom and teachers must start taking it very serious . Art integration simply means teaching that makes learners demonstrate understanding in an art form , they become creative in a way that makes them connect an art form and a subject . For example maths and music , you can teach maths using music so that learners grab that knowledge faster and in an enjoyable way , saying multiples of 2 using a song "Tadpole in the water " . Music can also help learners in class to end a lesson and switch to the other nene . To also start writing independently, we use soft music for that .
