Hey guys hope you are doing well. Its been a hectic couple of days with all the assignments due dates the one after the other but I am managing. I really enjoyed study unit 3 and learning about how important play is in the foundation phase. I knew it was important but not to this extent. The difference between passive activity and active activity really stood out for me especially these days where children are so consumed with watching tv or you tube videos. The different levels of play also gave me a new perspective on what to look out for during break times when the children are playing their games. The idea of using different types of props for sociodramatic play is an idea that i would one day like to incorporate into my classroom.
SCENARIO
Question: 1
The learners did not understand the words of the song and this makes it difficult for them to enjoy the activity. The different cultural backgrounds also plays apart meaning that some learners are just not use to hearing that type of music and it makes them feel uncomfortable.
Question: 2
Some learners felt excluded because of the language barrier and others didnt feel comfortable because of religious beliefs.
Question: 3
We need to be aware of the childrens religious values before choosing a song. It is important that all learners feel included in the activities and not excluded. The teacher could have explained to the learners what exactly the song lyrics were all about before teaching them the song. The free dancing activity I feel the teacher should tell the learners that if they feel they dont want to dance in the middle they dont have to. Some learners are very shy and dont like all the attention when dancing in the middle.
Question: 4
We should be aware of the different cultural groups and their religious beliefs so that no one gets offended by doing a certain activity in class.
