Heyy everyone!

Is it just me or is it scary to think it is almost Christmas!!! We are almost 3rd year students.

LSKM really taught me a lot this semester about the development of learners in terms of music and making it part of the class and teaching methods and even how make it part of other subjects in a very fun way. This has made me look with other eyes to music in education and why it is so important. Being able to learn that music is a component in the learning process and developmental process.

Completing the blogs made me realize all the different types of people we have in our group and how each one incorporate, learn work and how each one makes an effort with the blogs. It helped me get new ideas of incorporating music and learn new ideas.

It was a challenge to summarize all the work because I found a lot of points really important and some points should be in each teacher to do, a teacher will only benefit for it and it will help them to become the best they can be. It will also ensure all the necessary work is handled and it is done correctly.

I would have liked it if there was a little more practical examples of what is learned and how to make it part but in a practical manner.

I really enjoyed that each student was open to opinions and content and all of them was ready to help and to answer questions.

Lovely week for all.

Hey everyone!

I hope all of you are still well and that all is still safe and healthy.

I really learned a few new things for SU 3. I for really knew that music plays such a big role in the foundation phase.  Learning that play has 7 elements was very interesting for me because I only taught a play is just like a concert people is perform in but after learning the 7 elements of a play, it was like a light when on and know I am more aware about how it works. Learning the holistic development value of play was a whole new ball game for me. It also showed me how wide music goes and that it even plays a huge part in a child’s life even from a young age.

  • In my view point I think that some leaners got very uncomfortable while doing the activities, all are from different cultures. So, different cultures mean different beliefs and they do things different. No one is the same each child is unique in their way. Some learners would have felt uncomfortable while dancing because not all like to dance, I talk from experience because I was that learners who would always go stand at the back when they wanted to dance.
  • Some learners didn’t understand the song and others felt uncomfortable dancing in front everyone due to religious reasons.
  • From now on I will make sure to address such a situation in a whole other manner. There will be a selection of more than 1 song to be able to accommodate all the learners with their differences and believes. I will also split the class up the boys will go one way while the girls go another. I will ask learners opinions about songs etc and keep it in mind while doing the playing of a lesson.
  • We must accommodate children with different believes and cultures and to be able to let them know it is okay to be different. Just think how boring the world would have been if we are where the same.

Till next time
