My name is Kopano Maphunye and I'm from Zeerust, Gopane village. I want to be a foundation phase teacher because it is great to interact with children from a tender age, it needs a person who is patient working and listening to children, giving each one of them a chance to express themselves.
I am passionate about being a good teacher, being a good daughter, sister , about learning.
I feel overwhelmed at times as this semester is shorter than the first semester and there is lot of work so I have to to do all my best to meet the deadlines making sure not to miss any due date of assignments and tests. To treat the module as a priority and not slack at any time and passing the module is my expectation.
1. The knowledge I had in music was that I knew music as songs and some genres not what music is and that there is beat, rhythm and tempo also not what they are. I didn’t look into these before doing the module. At the end of the module, I know what they are and the difference in these music concepts. Having listening skill is an advantage as in music education we listen to music trying to pick out the beat, rhythm, tempo, pitch, and other music concepts in songs. At the end I learned that we listen to music to measure volume levels and performance of dynamics.
My experience in music is one which music can calm down and relax when listening to music, there those people who use it as a coping mechanism when they are overwhelmed. My attitude towards music education wasn’t a pleasing one, as I thought to myself, we do not have to learn music as we will not be teaching music at school. Surprisingly so, that changed along the way as I learned that music can be used to teach in classes and learners can excel in their studies because they love music using that method.
