This has been a very challenging time for me so far. I have been sooo busy.... I work at a school as a PE teacher and trust me I totally agree with the students when they say PE sucks. I really wish I had a better way to spend my time with the children other than to let them do exercises. My laptop didn't work as well, so I couldn't do any of the work. I was completely out of touch with everything. Luckily, I have module related Whatsapp groups that kept me in touch of everything and an IT guy at work that helped me sort out my laptop. After this all happened, I felt so relieved and ready to take on anything and everything.
After completing the work of study unit one, I am pretty confident and thrilled about this module. I am able to demonstrate the ability to instruct music through dance and movement. I'm aware that at the Foundation level, teaching music and movement go hand in hand with each other and I’m self-assured by incorporating music into my teaching practice because I’ve witnessed a difference in the behavior of my students when they can move, dance, sing, and listen to music. I feel that music and dancing is a very important factor in a child’s development as they socialize and make friends that way. I can confidently state that music will undoubtedly aid in the formation of outstanding intellects and will open up a whole new universe to students.
The ability to concentrate through music also boosts the students' self-confidence, as they find making music rewarding. Children can express themselves through music. I believe that music gives us, as teachers, a better opportunity to help children develop holistically. Music helps to calm the mind and can most definitely help children who have difficulty in concentrating in a classroom setting. Students with dyslexia who find it difficult to complete a task which promotes their holistic development can be given the key to music in order to learn. In addition to improving cognitive development, attention, and multitasking, this also helps to ease the effects of stress.
