Music play in foundation phase

In this study unit we will focus on the importance of musical play in foundation phase. Music play helps learners to be self motivated. It is very crucial to teach learners to play music as it is considered very  important by many experts. learning music stimulates or excite a child's cognitive development.

LEARNING AND PLAYING MUSIC STRENGTHEN THE FOLLOWIN IN LEARNERS:

1. Social skills: making music with others helps learners to develop social skills.

2. Confidence: performing music reveal a sense of confidence and if one is confident enough he or she can perform in front of her peers, teachers e.c.t.

3. Team building: working as a team help leaners to identify their strength and weaknesses and how to support one another in a group while working together.

4. Determination: Being able to learn some difficult things like playing a musical instruments whereby learners have to learn instructions of playing an instrument  or being able to know the lyrics of a song shows that a learner can master or manage other difficult tasks.

5. Passion: Music encourage learners to express themselves by allowing them to connect with their emotions. If they love what their are doing they will do it time and time again.
