* When it comes to testing learners (assessments), i think that learners often get nervous or even scared of the thought of writing tests that maybe the teacher does not want the learners to enter in that emotional space/state. Some might think that it is unnecessary to have assessments for learners, as they test the learner's prior knowledge throughout the process of learning in the lesson. Neglecting assessments in Performing arts in the foundation phase can also give rise that teachers or other are still working with a young age group and would not want to expose them to an increase of more assessments that can have an influence on their confidence, emotions and view on assessments in a negative perspective. How assessments are handled and managed in classes is important but can be done in such a way that is still enjoyable, fun and stimulating at the same time. That way learners will have more confidence in doing assessments and is more relaxed in the process.
*I would make known the advantages of assessments in school and among learners. Including assessments does have disadvantages but acts as a guidance to teachers to determine the learners' progression which plays an important part in lesson planning. It's not just about learning we need to see growth in learners. We need to also determine areas where we can assist learners if or where they struggle in. If we do not have assessments done in class, how will learners improve on their current skills without help and guidance?
