The culture of poverty is a concept in social theory that asserts the values of people experiencing poverty, it plays a significant role in keeping their weakened condition and sustaining a cycle of poverty across generations. it is a way of explaining why poverty exists.

Research ahs shown that poverty also has benefits. It helps uphold the unorthodox norms in the community. It also serves the community in a voluntary way. Poor people are mostly domisticated which means that domestic work gets done and recycling of goods is also done by the poor in order to obtain income.
