How do music concepts and related experience relate to life skills ,mathematics and language education
As a foundation phase teacher I was introduced to music concepts that I have to use when teaching music in class such tempo, texture and others. Music ignites all areas of child development and skills for school readliness including intellectual, social, emotional, motor language and overall literacy .Music help the body and mind to work together. Exposing children to music during early development helps them learn the sounds and meanings of words.
Life skills and mathematics play a big role in music, as they both use the same music elements .Music can help leaners with addition and subtraction in mathematics. Each note in music get a different number of beats and can be used in a simple math problem. The connection between math and music is that they both use patterns. Music elements such as beat and rhythm can be used when teaching math such as sequence and counting patterns .So both life skills and mathematics relate when comes to teaching children music.
