STUDY UNIT 4: ARTS INTEGRATION IN THE FOUNDATION PHASE

                                        Arts integration in the foundation phase: 

Arts integration it's an approach to teaching in which learners can able to make or design they're  own creativity and demonstrate understanding through an art form.  And if can engage in a creative process which connects an art form and another subject  the objectives will be the same.  This form of teaching style can address learning outcomes in different subject and develop understanding of concepts, skills through arts ( Silverstein & layne, 2010).

Arts integration helps learners to engage in active teaching and learning activities, experiential learning, collaborative learning, problem-solving skills and reflection. 

The value of arts integration :

- Arts integration promote and motivate higher levels through young learners and supports academic achievement.                                                                                                               - This strategies improve levels in mathematics also decrease's disciplinary challenges amongst the learners.

The benefits to Arts Integration:                                                                                                (1) Learners take part part during the lesson-  they become active and participants in their learning.  (2) Critical Thinking skills - By engaging in critical thinking and construct personal in their learning when the arts are intentionally integrated.  (3)  Empowerment- Creative learning is encouraged learning and developing growth. (4) Connective learning - teaching 21st century learning  skills and natural avenues for differentiation. (5) Equity- learning environment for all learners through the own access points.

Ways we can Integrate Arts:

* Experimenting with sound                                                                                                                             

 * Dramatic  and Play

  *Reflective journaling

 * Through storytelling 

* Story through dance performance   

 *Analyze artwork.
