Part 2

This week is a very busy week for me and my studies I can't wait to finish this semester it is hectic.

Part 3

What could the possible reasons be that assessment is neglected in Performing Arts and Music in the Foundation Phase?

lack of knowledge and skills about the syllabus requirements, lack of time to prepare music lessons, not enough time in the teaching day, lack of priority for music, lack of personal musical experience and lack of adequate resources.

Explain how you would advocate for and heighten awareness about the importance of assessment when speaking with your HOD about your concerns in this regard

I will tell my HOD the important of performing arts and music assessment in the foundation phase that Performing Arts in the Foundation Phase allows children the opportunity to creatively communicate, dramatise, sing, make music, dance and explore movement. Through the performing arts, learners develop their physical skills and creativity.

Assessment is essential because it leads to improved learning, improved teaching, and provides information that can be useful for accountability purposes such as teacher and student evaluations. This can be tough to do as music teachers are usually extremely busy and, in many cases, teach a large number of students.

The performing arts encourages children to explore their emotions, expand their imagination and helps them develop their own, unique voice. Each discipline of music, dance and drama engage a child's brain, body and emotions in different ways to encourage their confidence and find joy in self-expression.

Peer-assessment and self-assessment are also useful as teaching and learning tools. When peers assess, they have an opportunity to apply the language of the arts by giving feedback to others. In self-assessment, individuals or groups must reflect on their own work to identify strengths and areas that need improvement.
