- Unmyelinated fibers and small myelinated fibers are blocked more efficiently than large myelinated fibers.
- Dorsal nerves are more sensitive to blockage than pressure nerves and will be more easily inhibited.
- Heart: Class 1 anti-arrhythmic, Cardiac depression.
- CNS: Visual and auditory disturbances and light headedness.
- Skeletal muscle: No Application.
- For the type of procedure being done and duration of action.
- To increase the onset o local anaesthetic it is used as a buffer. It reduces pain on injection and causes faster onset of action. It will also cause increased concentration.
- Benzocaine, Cocaine and Oxybuprocaine.
