Unmyelinated fibers and small myelinated fibers are blocked more efficiently than large myelinated fibers.
Dorsal nerves are more sensitive to blockage than pressure nerves and will be more easily inhibited.
Heart: Class 1 anti-arrhythmic, Cardiac depression.
CNS: Visual and auditory disturbances and light headedness.
Skeletal muscle: No Application.
For the type of procedure being done and duration of action.
To increase the onset o local anaesthetic it is used as a buffer. It reduces pain on injection and causes faster onset of action. It will also cause increased concentration.
