  • Unmyelinated fibers and small myelinated fibers  are blocked more efficiently than large myelinated fibers.
  • Dorsal nerves are more sensitive to blockage than pressure nerves and will be more easily inhibited.
  • Heart: Class 1 anti-arrhythmic, Cardiac depression.
  • CNS: Visual and auditory disturbances and light headedness.
  • Skeletal muscle: No Application.
  • For the type of procedure being done and duration of action.
  • To increase the onset o local anaesthetic it is used as a buffer. It reduces pain on injection and causes faster onset of action. It will also cause increased concentration.
  • Benzocaine, Cocaine and Oxybuprocaine.
