Hi everyone, welcome back to my blogs...I am Thato and today we wil talk about study unit 3.
This study unit is focused on the nature of play and how play can connect to music. Play in the foundation phasecan be classified as free play, guided play and directed play. Play can have educational outcomes which are team/groupwork, creativity and discipline.
There are 7 elements to play and let me unfold them to you:
1. Play involves a state of mind and disposition- this means learners need to imagine, wonder, be playful experiment and explore the sorroundings before they can actually play.
2. Play contains elements of suprise and challenge- suprising people or being suprised is a contribution to sense of playfulness.
3. Play involves process, attitude and structure children need to understand that there are rules and laws to play.
4. Play is voluntary and unifying, forming part of the socialising process- play is an act of free will.
5. Play involves aestetics quality judgement by participants - throughplay children taught how to behave appropriately.
Play blurs the lines between young/old; rich/poor; strong/weak.
In play, social roles and responsibilities are emphasised.
In this chapter I have learned a lot about the importance of play in my class and I am ready to implement everything and enjoy with my learners.
