It is of no lie that we are all guilty when it comes to stereotyping , in 'How to write about Africa' the writer Binyavanga Wainaina describes how foreign writers , write about Africa how they have made it seem like Africa is one county and how horrible living in Africa is . I believe that Eurocentrism has also played a role in the way foreigners write about Africa .

However Africa is not the only victim of being understood incorrectly , its just a social habit for example Chimamada admits in her video that when she heard  that her family's domestic helper came from a poor family . She felt immediate pity for them and was surprised when she was told that the helpers brother made beautifully patterned baskets ,the reason for her shock is that since the family was said to be poor she immediately classified them as unskilled , now this is bad stereotyping .

Personally i have my own stereotypes from what i see on TV and read in novels Dubai is a well developed country which immediately gives me an idea that no one in Dubai struggles to make a living .But after reading through study unit 1 and 2 and watching Chimamanda's video i have come to realize that having a single story about something , likely gives us incomplete or false information so we should learn to look deeper into a situation for better understanding and not go with what we are told and shown .
