The Venda ethnic group is rooted in the belief that their ancestors are the ones that protect and guide them.In Order for them to connect to their ancestors they perform rituals and ceremonies.During those rituals they do traditional dances, drink traditional beers, slaughter a sheep or a goat as a sacrifice to appease the ancestors and to appreciate them for protecting and showing them the way.Traditional healers are considered the interconnectors between the ancestors and people hence they are the ones that operate the rituals and ceremonies. The most common place that Venda's do their rituals is Thathe Vondo which is believed to be a sacred place and only people with royal blood can enter.

Venda people also hold a strong belief that it is important for young people to respect their elders. It is believed we need to respect them because they are the main sources of our blessings meaning that if we respect them, they will pour out their blessings to us.Respecting elders also make young people behave in a proper manner because they will value every advice that is given to them which will enable them to live a better life.Listening to elderly people also increases young people's wisdom and life experience because elders possess a wealth of wisdom because they have experienced a lot of things throughout their lives.
