The perspective of the Sesotho community has been greatly influenced by their rich cultural legacy and wisdom. The two core teachings that are essential to the Sesotho people are Ubuntu, which means humanity towards others and Kgale, is respect and reverence for elders.
The first teaching which is ubuntu, places a strong emphasis on the interdependent nature of all people are and how important it is to treat people with respect, kindness, and empathy. Ubuntu serves as a reminder that the people and community we interact with are impacted by the things we do. I have discovered the benefits of empathy, teamwork, and social progress thanks to this belief. However, ubuntu influenced me to show humility, kindness and develop solid bonds based on mutual respect and trust
Secondly teaching which is "Kgale" implies respect as well as reverence for the elders including the ancestors. I acknowledge the value of consulting with elders and the wisdom, knowledge, and life experience they offer me. I now have a strong awareness for the importance of respecting our past and the value of generational wisdom all thanks to "kgale". I learned to seek guidance from my ancestors and respect my elders including every elder. Mostly to embrace the rich cultural legacy and wisdom of my community.
