Leisure and recreation opportunities in different universities

Leisure and recreation opportunities in other institutions are taken very seriously. They consider the fact that universities are about learning and not all learning happens in lecture halls or in class. Leisure and recreation activities help you grow your talents and explore new interests. For varsity students these activities help them create opportunity to bond with their classmates and develop skills that will serve them throughout life.

The NWU does not have many leisure and recreation opportunities and the few they have are highly exclusive. For example, their tourism and recreation have tourism student association namely Excursio, which offers several opportunities to only Tourism students. You must be part of the school teams or member of on-campus residents to have access or to participate in some leisure and recreation activities. So, if you are like us off-campus students you don't belong to either you don't have access to those opportunities. In order to participate you must be on the school team or vou must be a professional in a certain sport. You cannot just participate just for enjoyment or pleasure because their facilities are available to those only on the school teams. Other than sports the NWU does not have much recreation opportunities or they do we are just unaware of them which will mean they are doing a bad job in marketing them, or they are not marketing them at all.

This means that the NWU does not really consider student's developmental needs because leisure and recreation activities help with their developments. For example, the University of Texas has many clubs or organizations that assist students who want to have fun outside, whether its climbing, hiking or kayaking. They really go the extra mile to make sure students are having fun in their leisure because they understand that these recreation activities have so many benefits that may even increase their academic performances. Skills like time management, teamwork, leadership skills and problem solving skills are learned through these opportunities that NWU refuse to prioritize.

The other universities identify and understand the student's recreation and leisure needs and desires. And then design and offer programs and services that have been tailored to meet the needs of the students. College life can be an exciting adventure, a journey into adulthood, and a career that is incredibly rewarding. But this complicated time can also be stressful. To ensure the well-rounded development of students, most leading colleges in America offer services that lead to the physical and mental wellbeing of students. They provide a range of unique activities that help students stay happy and healthy, along with achieving academic excellence.
