Representetion Of Africa
IIn this blog I will be reflecting how Western scholars represent the continent of Africa, how they see the people living in it. The way in which culutural practices can be misinterpreted and sensatinalize. Western scholars represent Africa as a continent in unision and as a continent pauged by poverty and dependency.I will be representing my opinion on how Western scholar write about Africa as this exotic and impoverish continent.
I argue that Africa is a continent that is united because we are a rainbow this means we have different practices, value systems, religious beliefs and cultures. I believe that stereotype oversimplify complex realities that leads to misunderstanding and perpetuaing harmful biases. I disagree that Africa is a poor contonent and people here are uncivilized because we have African enterpreneurs and initiative that are driving positive change in our community. People tend to misinterpret and stigmatize culutural practices when viewed through a lens of cultural superiority. I strongly oppose the idea that people from Africa should look filthy and miserable so that they can get aid from the West because that doubt our hygein process.I think it is dangerous to reduce individual or cultures to a single narrative.
I urge readers to interrogate the ways in which they consume and interpret representations of Africa or any other continent around the world and to strive for more accurate, respetful, and nuance potrayals. It is important that when people learn about any other cultures to rethink their assumptions and narrative about that continent to be open minded because if not, they will be limiting their understanding. It is important that we don’t judge other people’s beliefs and culture even though if they are too abstract but this might be a way for us learn new things and we must be more understanding.
IT IS IMPORTANT TO EMBRANCE DIVERSITY.
