Stereotypes are easy , frequently false assumptions or beliefs that people have about certain persons or groups because of their gender , color , religion , or other attributes . these misconceptions can be damaging and support prejudice and discrimination . the impact of stereotypes on marginalized communities , how they can affect how we see and interact with others and how to confront and overcome stereotype via empathy , knowledge and open mindedness . its critical  to acknowledge the peril of stereotypes and make an effort to see past them to each person 's unique humanity . Stereotypes have the power to divide individuals and keep real connections from growing .
