Teachings or beliefs of my culture.

I grew up in the presence of women, very strong women who shaped the person that I am today through their teachings and beliefs of the Zulu culture and I'd like to share 2 of those teachings;

The Zulu culture or Zulu speaking people believe in the ancestors as their form of a supreme power, they believe that the elders that have long passed on in their families respectively are looking over them and from time to time they appease them by means of animal sacrifices, these differ from the magnitude of the ceremony if its a big ceremony they use goats or cows if its a small one they use chickens and such ceremonies are conducted under the strict supervision of the elders of the family who know how everything must be done, lastly they involve the ancestors in their daily lives they have "umsamo" in a vacant room at home its where by they appease the ancestors and buy them gifts, hence this has made me to believe in ancestors but I also do believe in GOD.

The Zulu culture also believes that if you have a wife and you are infertile your own biological brother should step in and be intimate with your wife to impregnate her on your behalf without you knowing in order to grow the surname of the family and preserve the family name as well event in the event of death the wife wont remain a widow for long she'll have to marry her late husband's brother, I don't consider this as a way to go about doing things and I don't believe in it so that is why I wont practice it in future.
