| Welkom by hierdie module wat handel oor die Suid-Afrikaanse onderwysstelsel, die ‘firma’ wat verantwoordelik is vir die aflewering van onderwys in Suid-Afrika. Dit word vertrou dat jy na die voltooiing van die module in staat sal wees om by te dra tot die ontwikkeling van die Suid-Afrikaanse onderwysstelsel sodat kwaliteitonderwys aan alle leerders, watter ouderdomme ook al, afgelewer kan word. | Welcome in this module that covers the South African education system, the organisation that is responsible for the delivery of education in South Africa. It is hoped that, after completion of this module, you will be able to contribute to the development of South African education in order to deliver quality education to all learners, no matter their age, race culture or gender. | |||

| Hierdie module bestaan uit 8 krediete. Dit beteken dat jy ongeveer 80 studie-ure aan hierdie module moet bestee. Die ure sluit die tyd in wat jy bestee aan klasbywoning, werkopdragte, individuele en groepsoefeninge, eksamenvoorbereiding en selfstudie. Let daarop dat die klas-ure slegs ’n klein deel van die 80 studie-ure uitmaak. Die dosent kan dus nie al die werk in detail met jou behandel nie. Daar sal dus van jou verwag word om selfstudie te doen en die betrokke dele van die werk op jou eie deur te werk voordat jy die klasse bywoon. Daarvoor moet jy die verskillende aktiwiteite, soos in die studiegids uiteengesit,getrou uitvoer. | This module consists of 8 credits. This implies that you will need approximately 80 study hours for each division. The 80 hours that you spend on this module include time for attending classes, doing assignments, time for self-study, individual or group exercises as well as examination preparation. Please note that the time spent in class if you are a full-time student amounts to only a small portion of the 80 hours to be spent on this module. The lecturer can therefore not go through every detail of the study material with you in class, and you will need to spend a great deal of time on self-study. It is expected of you to study each relevant part of the work before you come to class so that you will be prepared when you attend the classes. The study guide will assist you in reading the relevant sections and gives some exercises for you to do. | |||

| Die fokus van hierdie afdeling is gerig op die Suid-Afrikaanse onderwysstelsel –’n dinamiese studieveld! Soos julle uit eie ervaring weet, beleef ons tans in Suid-Afrika op talle terreine ’n proses van transformasie. Dit geld ook vir die onderwysstelsel. Ons is besig om weg te beweeg van ’n stelsel wat vanaf 1984 tot 1996 bestaan het na iets nuuts wat nog in die ontwikkelingsproses is. Ons is midde in ’n kritieke fase in die herstrukturering van die Suid-Afrikaanse onderwysstelsel en ons hoop dat jy, as opvoeder, sal kies om die uitdagings van die tyd te aanvaar en dat jy in jou eie omgewing ’n positiewe bydrae sal maak om onderwys in Suid-Afrika te bevorder. Daar sal dus in hierdie afdeling eerstens gekyk word na wat ’n onderwysstelsel is. Daarsal ook ondersoek ingestel word na die determinante wat die aard en die inhoud van die onderwysstelsel bepaal. Voorts sal daar aandag gegee word aan onderwysstelselbeleid, onderwysstelsel-administrasie, onderwyskundige en ondersteuningsdienste onderskeidelik as komponente van die Suid-Afrikaanse onderwysstelsel. Die kursus is verdeel in agt (8) leereenhede. Onthou:Dis belangrik om al die leereenhede se uitkomstete bemeester. | The focus of this study division is on the South African education system –a dynamic field of study! As you will know from own experience, in South Africa we are presently experiencing a process of transformation in numerous areas.This is also true regarding our education system.There is a process of rapid development and change going on in the SA education system.This situation sometimes leads to uncertainty and negative attitudes regarding education.We hope that you, as educators, will choose to accept the challenges of these times and will make a positive contribution in your own milieu towards promoting education in South Africa. In the following study units a study will be made of what an education system is. Furthermore, the determinants determining the nature and contents of an education system will be investigated. Education system policy, education system administration, educational structure (structure for teaching) and support services as components of the South African education system will also be studied. This course is divided into eight (8) study units. Remember: It is important that you master each of the study unit outcomes in each study unit. | |||
