Dear students

I am excited to start the ENAF journey with you this semester and hope you share the excitement!

A few "house rules" to ensure that we will work well together:

1) Kindly allow at least 48 hours for me to respond to your messages (weekends not included).

2) You are required to include the following information in the subject line when you send an email. This information will enable me to respond more quickly:

a. Module code ENAF 411 (take note that we have several modules that we are responsible for)

b. Student number

c. Your name and surname

d. Contact or distance student

Take note that failure to do so will result in your email not being answered.

3) Please be on time for your scheduled contact sessions.

4) Please first carefully read all information that is given concerning assignments, exams and the content of the module on eFundi and in the resources before asking questions that have already been answered.

5) Submit your assignments and tests on time, every time. Please see the information that is provided regarding the late submission of assignments. You are advised to submit your work ahead of time, do not leave it to the last minute when there could be problems such as load-shedding. Check the load-shedding schedule and consider this. Take note that I will not accept load-shedding as an excuse for your failure to submit your work on time.

6) Please refrain from adding your lecturer on social media platforms; it is for your protection.

7) Remember that you are at university and responsible for your academic achievements.

8) Textbooks, if prescribed, are compulsory.

9) Take note that PowerPoints, if provided by the lecturer, are a privilege and not a right and are only a summary of the work.

10) Participate in class, prepare before class and practice new skills; then you'll see progress.

11) Please address your lecturers in a professional manner at all times.

12) Remember that teaching is a profession and as such you should conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times. This includes being honest and courteous.

13) I am here to assist you. I ask that you keep me informed should you experience any problems. Please do not leave this to the last minute.

14) Take note that you may not form a group, for the portfolio, with students who are not in your class. This means that contact students may not work with distance students and vice versa.
