The prescribed textbook for this course is:

  • Economics for South African Students (Mohr & Associates), 6th edition.

Please note:

  • The 6th edition of the textbook is only available in English. If you prefer the 5th edition, which is available in Afrikaans and English, it will be sufficient. 
  • No *free* online version of the textbook is available. You therefore have to purchase the ebook or hard copy.
  • Students who wish to purchase either the ebook or the hard copy should directly contact Van Schaik at: vspotch@vanschaik.com
  • Students can also purchase at their closest Van Schaik Bookstore.

Participation and module marks

Your participation mark will be calculated as follows:

  • Formal tests: Best 1 out of 2: 30%

  • Semester Test: Compulsory: 30%

  • Efundi tests: Best 4 out of 5:  20%

  • Assignment                            : 20%

Please note that you need a minimum participation mark of 40% to write the exam.

50% Exam mark

Exam

There will be a formal sit-down exam for ECON 122.

Preliminary date for 1st opportunity: 14 November 2022 @ 09h00

Preliminary date for 2nd opportunity: 9 December 2022 @ 14h00

Note that you need a minimum participation mark of 40% to be allowed entry to write the exam
