Overview
Welcome to PHIL122, the second introductory module on philosophy!
As you most likely completed the first introductory module by now, you should have some idea of what philosophy is about. You would, for example, have learnt about Western antiquity, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. You would have grappled with coloniality, post-coloniality, and decoloniality. You would also have encountered the thought of some analytic philosophers. In this module you will learn more about what is known as Continental philosophy. We will look at Western, African and diasporic philosophers. Remember that philosophy is a challenging module, since we ask you to reflect on the world and humanity. As such, it requires engagement rather then passive learning, but it will be a rewarding experience!
