Women in Economics
8 March is international women's day and this is as good a time as any to learn about the amazing women economics (if you have not already done so). The article below is focused on the South African women in economics. Their work is fascinating, so feel free to dig a little deeper and learn more about what women have done in the field.
Who are South Africa's female economists and role models?
Note that when this article was published in 2018 there has only been one female to win the nobel prize in economics, Elinor Ostrom (in 2008). Since then, Esther Duflo has also won the nobel prize (in 2019).
