Welcome to Occupational Health and Ergonomics (IOPS 121). The environment in which organisations function is characterised by fundamental and unyielding change. At the forefront of this change is the drive towards globalised markets, placing significant competitive pressure on organisations. Human capital, a resource most often recognised and used within organisations is crucial to the success and survival of any organisation. As an introductory module, we will consider only certain theories and how they relate to healthy organisations and the well-being of employees. We will discuss the importance of a safe and healthy work environment and how it can enhance the quality of work life.
