TOPIC: LAST TESTIMONY

As I write this blog entry with teary eyes I am just happy for being a student in the AGLE module, because of it my vocabulary has improved dramatically and am happy for the experience i had. Our lecturer was and is one of a kind because she guided us through this journey with patience. I learned how to reference which will be required even in second year because it is important to acknowledge the owner. We also attended AGLE provided by our lecturer which also helped in case we didn't understand the lecturer. I have also enjoyed writing these blogs because with we were able to express ourselves and interacting with other students.All i can say is please keep doing the great job because it is appreciated. 

The importance of education

We wrote an argumentative essay and we also wrote a counter argument on it. Education is a tool that can be used to alleviate poverty among our society. Education can also be used to reduce the dominance of one gender over the other in work places, for example the dominance of male over females. Education is the reason why we have feminist who advocate for the rights of women and that we can be in the same level with males as long as there is respect among us.

Topic:Processing information: using sources

What i have learned about the topic

When discussing this topic we learned about reading strategies such as scanning and skimming and the methods of applying them both. They are very helpful when studying and you do not waste time while using them. How to process relevant information by extracting relevant main ideas, supporting ideas and how text elements relate to relate to each other in terms of ideas. Lastly we also learned how to summarize information from relavant sources by paraphrasing.

What I did or did not enjoy about this lecture

I enjoyed everything about this topic because everything in it was very interesting and very helpful. I wish we would have learned while still in high school because it would have helped me a lot.

We were working on our essays that she gave us. we even brought some articles based on the topic we came up with and trying to identify our sources. Our lecturer also gave us an activity to firstly understand and identify the differences between our sources. We also had to establish the overall aim of our assignment. Lastly we had to establish the purpose of the sources for our assignment.

I now understand different types of sources and how to identify them.I also know when to reference.
