This was a very interesting read. I learned a lot about intergrating art. It was interesting to see how much things learners can learn through art example: Planning, Problem solving skills.. I learned how to intergrade the art in music for example where the learners can draw a picture of how the music makes them feel. The learners learn in depth about new information by practical means. I also learned a lot about the value of art integration, and how to create the right environment for this kind of learning.
Learning through play!
This week was quite interesting starting with a real Blue Monday and rain. Excited to see some family members in the week to come.
Study unit 3 was very interesting reading through it so far.
The seven elements of play was very insightful and I learned a lot for sure! This will help me one day in preparing for a music lesson or class lesson in general to make sure I Cover some or all of these senses in my lessons especially play and free play. It was interesting for me to see how much social skills they can gain by just playing a game. The skills how to behave properly and their reaction when not chosen or eliminated is very important skills. I believe a child a child should learn that winning is not everything and being able to loose is also a good character skill. This also depends in what stage of development the child is how they will react on both of these skills. The Genre of games will difinately give me a idea on what to play with the learners and how to cooperate the important skills to them.
Hi everyone!
This week was quite intense with all the work load and tests upon us, but we can do it! We should just also support one another when we can!
Study Unit 2 was quite interesting learning about inclusiveness in the classroom. How I can make my classroom open to all different cultures during music even learners that fall on the spectrum. This information is very useful, and I am sure I will be able to use this in the future.
Individual Reflection:
1. I would use more contemporary commercial music. I think the lessons will be fun if the learners know the songs that I introduce to them, and especially if they can move and dance to it. Out of experience as a teacher I know that learners like to dance to music they are familiar to especially if it reminds them of home, and the people they are surrounded by.
2. I don't have any problem with the content of this unit. I think it was inclusive enough there was videos and typed content which is good.
If I look back at my experience as a teacher I had quite a good experience with my previous class of little ones in the teaching of music. I know that if you want to have a good experience with a music lesson you should be well prepared, and also know where all your music are, because as we all know as soon as the learners wait for you, they start to get naughty.
Know what you want to teach, and also keep it simple. Sometimes the children just want to dance and that is also ok I think.
Part 1:
This week was okay I came back from Holiday in Cape Town so I had to say goodbye to my family. I did miss my Fiancee and animals so it was lovely to see them. I am feeling a little bit overwhelmed with my work load, but are starting to work in all areas little by little so that I don't fall behind.
Part 2:
It was interesting for me to read that children start to associate sound with symbols around the age of 5, and that is why they can start reading music notes from the ages of 6. I also read how important music activities is for the whole body, because when they move to music they use gross movement and hand eye coordination, and mid line crossing. Music is also very good for listening skills.
Part 3:
I myself feel confident in teaching music, but still feel their is some areas where I can improve. I am always up for a challenge. I would rather teach music then physical education. Their is so many parts of the child holistic development learning that happens through the interaction with peers through music. Study unit 1 was very interesting, and I think music is so diverse that you can corporate it in to any subject to make it more fun and enjoyable for the learners.
Hi Guys
My name is Janine Nel and I am 32 years old. My hometown is Cape Town, but me and my fiancee relocated to Ballito in January. We are enjoying it here so far and I have grown a lot in myself allready relocating to another Province. I would love to become a foundation phase teacher, because it is my passion to teach, and to see each child grow to their full potential. I am passionate about people and working with them especially children. I love animals and the outdoors, and I have a great passion for traveling to. I also like arts and crafts, and doing art with my kids is the best part of my day. This week has been good I only came back yesterday from holiday in Cape Town to see my family.
I was first a bit confused about this module since I am still looking for the watsapp group.
