ARTS INTEGRATION.

The integration of Arts on activities in schools is one of the best ways to promote diversity where learners of different cultures,interests and learning styles are combined to take part in the activities that reflect their backgrounds and interests,hence art is important component to be integrated on education.foundation phase learners can benefit from the studies of the integration of art since they can learn more about themselves as indicated as well as learning about others cultures as that will allow them to know more about diversity and embrace it as well as accepting and respecting other people's cultures.the integration of arts is an opportunity to allow learners to showcase their skills through various conducted activities and it also allows learners to take charge of their own learning.it is through art integration that learners learn skills,problem solving skills,collaborative learning as well as other learning experiences because one of the best way for learners to learn is through being active participants of their own learning that arts integration offers.following are the benefits of integrating arts on education:

-Arts allows teachers to support learners and recognize their shortcomings and attends to those needs for their development.

-Arts allows an opportunity for learners to interact,to connect and enjoy taking part on their teaching and learning.

-Escalates learners performance and reduces discipline issues on learners.

 

-Allows learners to think creatively and imaginatively

PLAY IN MUSIC EDUCATION

Music play on the foundation phase is characterized by self enjoyment,self motivation by learners and it focuses on the process of partnering instead of product.play is one of the strategies to allow learners to express themselves,enjoy and it promotes extrinsic motivation amongst learners both through intellectually and bodily as it is also beneficial to the children/learners cognitive development,this allows learners to be able to form social cohesion as well as allowing them to think creatively?following are the benefits of the play in education:

Team building:working with the group allows learners to be able to recognize their talents and their difficulties,also teaches learners to respect the opinions of others as well as being able to be able to function within the group.

Determination:Determination allows learners to be able to work on their difficulties until they master their shortcomings,e.g in music activities if learners have difficulties to master music determination empowers them to work work on their difficulties and this will motivate them to be eager to try new things and always overcome the obstacles they may encounter.

Self consciousness:on plays self consciousness allows learners to explore more about themselves as to what do they like and dislike,what they enjoy doing.

HOW TO LISTEN AND RESPOND TO MUSIC

Music consists of various characterstics combined to create music eventually,there are five elements of music that contributes to music collectively namely being the pitch,tempo,beat,meter as well as rhythms.beat is known as the heartbeat or rather the heart of Music,some beats maybe more noticeable than others,the louder nor prominent beats are referred to as the accent.the accent help us to know how many bars does a beat consist of.secondly we have meters,meters are usually divided into three or four groups,which is referred to the meter musically,the meter is the accent(loudest sound).accents are usually placed on the first beat of groupings.by the rhythm we are referring to the different combination of values (lengths of tones).lastly,we have tempo,tempo refers to how fast or how slow the song is composed. We can include musical games on the foundation phase activities such as constructing the body percussion activities,especially the body percussion activities because the body percussion activities do not only allow learners to engage on music activities but also to be able to be knowledgeable on music such as being able to move to music.

1)Lesson plan is the teachers pre teaching strategy of how they will execute their lessons to make it a success,even so,when planning a lesson as a teacher there are several aspects to consider when planning the lesson on order for it to be a success.a teacher needs to include many opportunities as possible that will allow learners to be engaged on the Lesson,that will allow learners to listen,to move and create something for the whole of the lesson.a teacher must have learning objectives and and learning outcomes that he/she want to achieve or that must learners learn at the end of the Lesson,furthermore,a teacher needs to choose topics that are in alignment and support the life skills.on the topics that the teachers chooses as foundation phase teachers they need to choose topics that includes play that will promote creativeness,self discovery,cohesion amongst learners and also that implement arts strategies for teaching.

2)It's imperative for the teachers to implement nor incorporate arts on learning,following are the advantages and benefits of the arts integration.the integration of arts on learning enhances learners learning abilities and encourages learners to learn about themselves also.through arts integration learners are able to be actively involved and engaged in the teaching and learning process and allows learners to take ownership of their own learning(scaffolding).arts integration also provides space for learners to have fun while participating on authentic and useful activities about their own environments and show their understanding of their environments through those fun activities.arts incorporation one of its imperative aspects again is that it arouses love for learning on learners as well as music about the activities which are linked to the real life situations while learners also get the opportunity to learn about themselves,their social well being as well as the promotion of holistic development contemporaneously.

3)My perception and priorities regarding lesson planning has changed though slightly,reason being that every teacher that plans have a lesson think of the lesson objectives and lesson outcomes and all the aspects which will lead to the success of the lesson.however,lesson planning on arts is quite different as there are several aspects to consider when planning a lesson which are not the same as planning the lessons for other subjects.on art the perception that i learned is that normally when planning lessons lessons are planned in a way that they teach learners but not through the conventional ways,games are used to reach nor meet the teachers objectives and goals and that arts activities allows learners to bring their personal experiences to the learning process while also they get to learn more about the intended learning outcomes.

HOLISTIC DEVELOPMENT

In study Unit 1 according to the the theorists theories in the holistic development,Erikson believes that the development of children relies heavily on interaction with others(social) and forming relationships with people.so with regards to the teaching context this implies that it is important for teachers to form relationships with their learners as well as forming activities that will encourage learners to have relationships with each other.the theory further more emphasises that the implementation of interaction and relationships leads learners to feeling safe,loved and cared for within the school or classroom.Accordding to Piagets theory,children they learn by building new knowledge into the knowledge that has been existing before in them,this theory categorizes the children knowledge based on two stages(Pre operational and concrete operational stage).on the preoperational stage children cannot fully think although they think they can,they only aware of their surroundings and they think everyone think according to their way of thinking.and on the concrete operational stage,this is the stage where children have the ability to logically think,they can solve problems and can successfully engage on learning activities.the third theory is the Zone of proximal theory by Viygotsky,this theory suggests that the children's thinking is influenced by their social and cultural aspects,it suggests that in order to understand the learners development you need to consider the environment which they come from and their personality.

MUSICAL DEVELOPMENT IN FOUNDATION PHASE.

Music is the combination of instruments or vocal or both used to produce harmony.in educational context,it is important to incorporate music in the teaching as it believed that the implementation of music carries some benefits towards the learners.there are 5 benefits of music towards learners.

1)Physical development-This development enhances physical flourishment on learners,helps learners to develop motor and gross skills,it allows learners to have balance,coordination and encourages them to be aware of their bodies.

2)Cognitive development-music in terms of cognitive teaches learners attentiveness,to multitask,as well as numeracy and literacy skills.

3)Social development-integration of music in learning promotes social cohesion amongst learners with themselves and ultimately form friendships.social cohesion teaches learners to be respectful,to acknowledge the view of others,to have communicational skills as well the ability to solve problems.

4)Personal development-this development allows learners to grow individually,when learners interact with music they gradually develop the interest of participating on activities with their peers which will encourage personal growth.this promotes confidence on learners,and engaging in music allows learners to be able to learn about their self.

5)Emotional development-this allows learners to learn about different emotions,music allows learners to be able to express how they feel.this teaches learners to be aware of others emotions and to be sensitive towards them as well as promoting emotional intelligence.
