I've learned a lot about music, arts integration, and lesson planning from this session. I never expected that incorporating arts and music into the classroom would have such a big impact on students and based on all I've studied so far in this module, I can confidently claim that I've learned a lot about music education and how to prepare lessons plans for foundation phase students. Music is crucial in the foundation phase because it engages students in authentic and enjoyable lessons.

What did you find the most difficult?

It was challenging to integrate music into other classes, as well as to create a musical game that would teach students about music ideas.

Were the individual reflections useful to you?

Yes, the reflections were valuable since they allowed me to assess my musical knowledge and identify areas for progress. I was able to see where I needed to improve and which areas I should concentrate on.

What would you do differently if you had the chance in the future?

I'd modify my perspective on music since I used to think it was simple and unimportant at the foundation period, but it's actually more difficult than I imagined and quite beneficial in the classroom.

What piqued your interest and made a lasting impression on you?

Working effectively with my group mates, discussing and coming up with ideas, and building a game that would teach learners music fundamentals were all enjoyable experiences.

What has been a source of difficulty for you, and what do you still find difficult to comprehend?

Integration of the arts and music with another subject. Making a game that teaches students about music ideas.

Goals

Determine the goals or outcomes I want my students to achieve as a result of the lesson plan I'll be teaching.

Objectives

Determine the goals I want my students to attain in the tasks that will keep them engaged in the learning process.

Resources

Make a list of the materials and resources that will be required to complete the lesson.

Introduction

Describe or make a list of a list of focusing events or attention grabbers that will encourage students to pay attention.

Learner development - activities

Describe how I want to model or explain what I want my students to perform - actions that they must complete.

Closure

I can wrap a lesson in a variety of ways, which I will list or describe.

Evaluation

List or describe how you will evaluate or measure learner performance in achieving the desired outcomes.

The importance of arts integration in foundation phase students.

The standard aids learners in learning facts and helps them develop their knowledge of these facts. Arts integration also reveals learners' potential by providing authentic and personally meaningful learning. Giving students a way to communicate what they've learned in class via various creative forms fosters teamwork, collaboration, and confidence, as well as a sense of ownership. Furthermore, art integration fosters a sense of ownership by allowing students to communicate what they have learned in class in a variety of ways.

As a teacher, I am urged to incorporate elements of play into my lessons to stimulate creativity, exploration, and cooperation, as well as to use arts integration tactics as often as possible.

Teachers may nurture not only social and creative thinking abilities but also enhance learners' desire for learning while learning more about themselves, by including music and art into their lessons. Music aids in the development of skills, attitudes, and characteristics that can be used to promote learning in other national curriculum areas, as well as the development of a child's spatial-temporal thinking skills and the ability to think in patterns and pictures. Finally, the arts promote academic performance by motivating students to excel both in and out of the classroom. As a result, music and the arts allow youngsters to express themselves and take risks when producing art and playing music, which helps them develop innovative talents.

Art integration is a teaching method in which students create and express understanding via the use of an artistic medium. Learners participate in a creative process that connects one art form to another and introduces them to changing objects.

This method of instruction is based on the idea that learning should be active, immersive, developing, collaborative, problem-solving, and reflective. Learners can use art to make sense of what they've learned (construct understanding) and make their learning apparent in a variety of ways (demonstrate understanding).

Working in the arts encourages students to build innovative problem-solving abilities. Teaching through the arts can help students understand complex subjects by visualizing them. Integrating art with other subjects reaches out to students who might otherwise be disengaged from their studies. Art experiences improve critical thinking by helping students to be more deliberate and thorough in their observations of the environment.

What about art integration piqued your interest?

Art integration is appealing to me since it encourages active participation in teaching and learning activities, as well as experiential learning, realistic learning activities, collaboration, problem-solving abilities, and reflection. It also encourages foundation phase students to engage in authentic activities that have real-world applications in order to internalize new knowledge and abilities.

However, arts integration allows teachers to promote and support learners' developmental needs while also allowing learners to participate in fun teaching and learning activities that foster collaboration and connection while also promoting learners' natural curiosity, creativity, and imaginative abilities. Furthermore, arts integration allows foundation phase students to improve their problem-solving and critical-thinking skills by engaging in authentic learning activities that foster the ability to recognize the many ways in which they are not only connected to each other but also to the world around them.

What aspects of art integration did you find difficult?

Arts integration is often difficult for music instructors because it takes a lot of work, needs collaboration with other teachers, and can, unfortunately, promote collaboration with other teachers and be biased toward one subject over another. Because learners have a hard time interacting with art, there must be a seamless integration of two or more disciplines, and both subjects must be experienced and engaged at the same time within an activity.
