Arts integration provides the opportunity for teachers to promote and support the developmental needs of learners. Arts integration offers learners opportunity to engage in teaching and learning activities that are inclusive and fun, and it promotes learners creativity and abilities to imagine. It accommodates various learning styles and preference. Collaborative skills are practiced. Foundation phase learners are able to demonstrate their understanding through arts. Foundation phase learners develop problem solving and critical thinking skills through engagement in genuine learning activities. Arts integration can lead to transformative experience for both teachers and learners while being creative and imaginative capacities of the teachers and learners alike.
