Hello! Hey! Hi! :)
My name is Zoë-Anne, I am 20 years old and from a really little town called Ermelo in Mpumalanga. I am (unfortunately) a middle child, live with both my parents, have 2 dogs and one random fact is that I'm still working on getting my drivers license. I want to just point out right off the bat that this blog is a bit rushed as I only found out last night that its due today... But things should only get better from here, right? Right!! Well that's what I'll be telling myself.
I am passionate about so many things and you'll soon find out how busy my schedule is and that I recently just added even more things to it. My love for working with children began when I was15 years old and I started coaching at our gymnastics club (I did gymnastics for 10years throughout school). I currently still help coach part-time. Growing up in this club has made me realize that I always want to work with children and especially those in the Foundation Phase. I've been working at a coffee shop in our town Tue-Fri 7:00-13:00 for the past 2years since I finished High School. Last week I started a new job helping kids afterschool with homework, tasks and tests. I work Mon-Fri 14:00-17:00. I guess you can see why I found out about this blog last minute. Besides working with children, I am truly passionate about poetry. I fully believe this talent I have for writing comes from God so I'm doing my best to honor Him through some of my creative work. I actually had an amazing opportunity these past 2months to help work on a song for South Africa which should be coming out soon (#HopeSongSA)! Earlier this year I also got to perform some spoken poetry at an event held in Witbank. So many doors are starting to open with my poetry but I cant wait for the day I have my very own book out. I also want to start helping out more in our community, so my older sister and a few friends and I are starting a Rotaract club. We want to get the youth of our town coming together to make it an overall better place and develop leadership and help people in the community.
With all this going on I have to consistently remind myself that my studies are actually more important than some of these other things because I am working to secure my future. Getting through my modules this week was really hectic especially since I just started the new job at the school. I am overall excited to learn more about LSKM because I think the music aspect could help with my poetry. I cant read music or play instruments but I really want to learn the ukulele and piano. I don't have much expectations for this module but it seems like its going to be a fun one.
From SU 1 I learnt a lot about the different learning theories and how Vygotsky, Erikson and Piaget had many view points on how children develop and learn. I also learnt how important music is during foundation phase teaching, even if its just playing in the background.
I know this blog does not meet all the requirements we needed, but I know I'll be more prepared for the next one.
Until then, sending blessings to everyone :)
