The study unit 5 of lesson planning we have learned the basic principles of a lesson plan to keep in mind when planning a music lesson or non-music lesson with music activities. Thes include the use of many opportunities as possible for learners to engage with. They must be used according to the way CAPS document has prescribed them. We see different characteristics of a well planned lesson that must have introduction phase, teaching and learning phase, and conclusion phase as those phases must include teachers activities, learner activities and assessment.

On this very important study unit we were able to evaluate the value of art integration in Life Skills of foundation phase together with the combination of study unit 1 where in this study unit there was a tauch of holist development of foundation phase learners. Also we have leraned that art integration brings focus to the whole child and embraces the notion that all lerners are different. It engages learners and offers variety of ways to construct and demonstrate understanding. Identifying different strategies for art integration in foundation phase has helped in itegration of other subjects, and the use of approach for teaching and learning of different concepts.
On the study unit 3 we have learned the nature and values of play in the foundation phase teaching and learning. We were able to identify different elememnts of play in music activity as there are six elements such as rhythm, pitch, dynamics, form, timbre and texture. These are all considered to be the fundamental systems. They all have the important part to play in music play style. We have learned characyeristics of play that were described by Brewer,(2007) as there are presonal motivation, active involvement, nonliteral meaning, non extrinsic goals, meaning that is supplied by the player.
On the study unit 2 we have learned the various music concepts and various types of music activities. But throughly we have also learned about music elements as a building block and also that there are basic elements of music of music such as Duration, pitch, intesity, quality, texture (of tone). Most importantly we have learned skills to facillitate various types of music activities in foundation phase by using some of the princeples of music education teaching methods. There was a clear discussion about the value of singing in the foundation phase, as music ignites all areas of child development and skills for school leafiness including intellectual, social-emotional, motor, language and overall literacy.
