The important aspects to keep in mind when planning a lesson are 1.  Always perform music at the beginning and the end of the lesson. 2. Make sure that music listened to in class contribute to lesson aims. 3. Always guide learners in music listening activities. 4. Make use of different teaching, learning and assessment activities in your lesson. 5. The basic structure of introduction, presentation phase and conclusion should be kept in mind in order to assist you in cognitive level activities. 6. Make use of different activities (singing, listening) to accommodate various learning styles, abilities and interests of learners. 7. Ask questions that prompt learners to find answers on their own. 8. Always identify which types and methods of assessment you will use for the lesson. 9. You and learners always reflect on teaching and learning assessment. 10, Evaluate how the lesson relate to real life situation and consider the importance of peer scaffolding.

Utilising arts integration and play in foundation phase lessons it is a good approach to use to facilitate exciting lesson that keep learners interested in the lesson at hand at all times. When learners sing and play games during a lesson they don't get bored of the lesson instead they enjoy the lesson because they learn about the content of the subject and at the same time they also learn about music.

My perception and priorities with regards to lesson planning and the inclusion of music throughout teaching and learning in foundation phase hasn't changed. Because I feel that it is important and beneficial to integrate music when teaching other subjects.
