Greetings to all

My name is Precious Pule, I am a second year foundation phase student. I am from the village in North West called khunwana. I m the mother of two, and a grandmother to my grand daughter. I was born as the only sister to my seven brothers and two has past on already. I am one person that is always ready to take any challenges I am facing in life. My believe is that everthing happens for a reason and is one's choice how to handle it.  I always wanted to be a teacher in my life, like my late mother. She was my role model. I had just started my studies at the univercity last year as I was working for my siblings to survive.Since my parents died I became a breadwinner at home. I managed to push everyone to matric level and one of them is a teacher as we speak. I worked hard for years for everyone to reach his goals and dreams. Now is time to focus on myself and my children.  I have passion for teaching small children hence to work with young minds there is a sense of piece, and I would do whatever it takes to see them doing right choices in their lifes and going forward. My course is more on the development of learners in aspects of life emotional, phychological and intellectual are pillars to enhance teaching and learning among learners. Firstly it has to start with me the theory that I am being taught has to be applied in teaching field expertise. I have to make sure that I am inclusive for all learners to consider disparities and to come up with accommodative solutions. Lskm is one of my favorite modules but I found it hard to relate music to outlined outcomes. I tried so hard to make sure that I find what is required, and I managed. Hardwork and dedication should be the cornerstone of achieving beyond expectations. I had always wanted to be foundation phase teacher, looking back I am proud of myself because I am currently pursuing what I have always wanted to become.

Music is the world 's primary heartbeat and a kind of art that transcends all cultural boundries. I've always believed that music education is vital for a child ' s growth because it aids memory, reasoning, and attention. When I compare my knowledge, skills, experiences, and attitudes about music education from the beginning of the semester to the end of the seemester, I am blown away by how much this module has taught me about music education at the foundation phase. I ' ve learned how play-based music activities can help foundation phase students flourish. How appropriate teaching methods help in facilitating activities that learners are required to respond to music with non-locomotor and locomotor events in the unit that spoke about listening and responding to music in a nutshell my attitudes towards music education has grown. I am eager to learn more because learning is much more fun when the is music. What I learnt from individual reflection is that writting about a personal experiences is always a good way to help me understand and see where I can improve. At first I was skeptical thinking that I would not be able to express my views well, but I am grateful that I was able to see the importance of reflecting on what I learnt to broaden my understanding regarding module content. Because of this module I see music education differently, I now understand the value of musical play within multicultural classroom in the foundation phase. With my new profound knowledge I am certain that it will help me in the near future once I am qualified teacher.

Lesson planning

What are the most important aspects to keep in mind when planning a lesson.

The act of planning a lesson comprises visualizing the lesson before it takes place, as well as prediction, anticipation, sequencing, organisation, and simplification. When organizing a lesson, teachers should consider a number of possibilities that are linked to the objectives to be fulfilled. The student who will be taught, their backgrounds, prior knowledge, age, and interests, as well as the responsibilities and resources that will be offered. I also learned that when planning, I must first consider my students and the setting in which I teach.

Value of utilizing arts integration and play in foundation phase lessons.

I am certain that including art into the curriculum for subjects such as mathematics improves comprehension, retention, and the development of creative problem-solving skills. Educators have long identified strategies in the art integration strategy. We may create teaching and learning environments where people with different learning environments where people with different learning needs are encouraged to demonstrate their understanding via art. We can also design inclusive teaching and learning activities that allow for a variety of ways to engage with new knowledge and skills. Student have the opportunity to not only study in a supportive and collaborative environment, but also to exhibit their understanding in variety of ways.

Has my perspective and priorities in terms of lesson preparation and incorporating music into my classroom shifted?

Yes, I've accumulated so much knowledge that I've learned that a well-planned class will naturally involve lower to higher order thinking. Learners must be encouraged to engage in free play, movement, and imitation activities at first (Blooms level 1-2). They reflect (Blooms level 3-5) finally, in the foundation phase, students use art to share their learning by creating and presenting artwork, as well as participating in musical performances (Blooms level 6).

When planning music sessions, I've discovered that I need to consider how my teaching and learning activities will accomodate my students' various requirements and abilities. I also need to design teaching and learning styles and musical preferences, as well as their social and cultural backgrounds.

Arts Intergration

Music, dance, sketching, poetry, and other arts are incorporated into the learning process through arts integration. In the foundation phase, art integration is very valuable and necessary since teaching through the arts may portray topics graphically, making them easier to understand, and learners can also build problem-solving abilities.

Teachers can use art integration to support and increase learners' developmental needs while also allowing them to participate in engaging learning activities that encourage cooperative learning and enhance creativity.

What I found interesting in study unit four:

I noticed that arts integration may improve learning experience since it allows us design teaching and learning settings that cater to each individual's learning capacities and requirements. Allowing students to openly demonstrate their comprehension.

Strategies for combining music with other disciplines were among the aspects of study unit four that i found problematic.

As a teacher, I believe i can be challenging to address the outcomes of two topics at the same time.

Play in the foundation phase music classroom

We 'll look at the impact or importance of musical play in foundation phase in this study unit. The value of studying music at young age has been compared to the importance of learning to read and write. Learning to play music, according to many specialist in the field of child development is just vital. The cognitive growth of a youngster is stimulated by learning music.

Learning and playing music gives you feeling of:

Determination: Mastering a difficult piece of music instills pride as well as a desire to master other tough things.

Confidence: Performing music instills confidence in your child, allowing them to feel at ease enough to perform in front of others.

Time management: Music teachers( and teachers general) have a low tolerance for tardiness, so making a conscious effort to be on time for lessons teaches responsibility and demonstrates regard for time of others.

Passion: Music is evocative and must be experienced . Playing music will encourage your child to express themselves more clearly by helping them to connect with their emotions. If they're passionate about what they are doing, they'll work for hours.

Working as a team enables your child to recognize their own talents and short comings as well as how to support others.

How do music concepts and related experience relate to life skills, mathematics and language education.

I 've discovered that learning about music concepts allows students to delve deeper into the concepts behind specific subjects. Here 's a quick rundown of how music concepts relate to math, life skills, and language education. Certain music teaching, such as comprehensive instruction  that incorporates keyboard skills training, develops spatial reasoning and spatial temporal reasoning skills, both of which are necessary for comprehending and employing mathematical concepts. Other common experiences can aid the aquisation of mathematical ideas such as patterns, according to Phillips- Silver and Trainor (2005). For example teachers might use music concepts beat to teach fractions by having pupils tap to the beat. Language instruction is important. Music and language arts  combine the components of pitch, time, and timbre, thus it's always a good idea to learn a new language through music. Children 's language processing abilities and vocabulary expansion improve as they become more familiar with these elements through musical education, for example when teaching life skills, such as self awareness and personal responsibility, rhythm and ryme are the part of the instructional process that can appeal to the learning styles of learners through music , fine arts and drama.
