In this study unit I have learned that music is a vocal or instrumental sound that  produces harmony and expression of emotions. It is the art of combining sounds through the elements of rhythm and melody. I also learned about the various musical concepts which are pulse, dynamics, tempo and timbre to name a few. 

I also learned that music is important in the foundation phase because it boosts learners moods, helps learner's cognitive development and allows learners to express themselves. It also improves their vocabulary through nursery rhythms. 

Holistic development is the areas of a child that are ignited by music.  These areas are physical, social, emotional, spiritual, language, cognitive and personal development. 

Then there was the three theories which are Erikson's development theory which draws focus to the influence of social interaction and relationships on learning, Piaget's development theory with the notion that children learn by interacting with the world  and Vygotsky's development theory which draws attention on the socio-cultural factors that influence cognitive development.

I am looking forward to learning more and looking forward to study unit 2.
