I have learnt a lot about music and all its different aspects. I have been amazed on how music can promote inclusiveness in the classroom. to be constantly creative in coming up with the music activities in order to make the lesson effective. to make use of found objects as music tools and to engage learners in the music lesson.

What did you find challenging

coming up with a music activity was the most challenging for me

Did you find the individual reflection valuable

What would you change if you had the opportunity in future

creating a  music activity

what did you not find valuable for your future teaching practice

5- lesson plan

A lesson plan is the most important aspect in teaching and learning. it is like a compass for the educator guiding on how, when and what to teach. A lesson can only be a success with a use of a well detailed lesson plan where every aspect or component of a lesson has been paid attention to detail and it is a teachers responsibility to create a lesson plan.

a teacher should have a thorough knowledge of a lesson plan structure, and  its contents and how they should flow.

teachers should include different methods of teaching, styles and strategies. They should integrate lessons with art for a deeper meaning, using objects, play, body movement, and games. use activities that foster creativity, critical thinking, constant engagement, and working in groups. the assessment plan should be well thought and appropriate.

the value of arts integration

art integration is the term used when arts is incorporated to any other subject and used simultaneously to teaching a certain concept of a certain subject for deeper understanding. it is the teaching style/strategy that has  proven to be successful especially in young learners as they learn best when using all their senses, mainly as it lets learners use the arts aspects such as dancing, drawing, singing to say what they understand what they are being taught, this has shown to have permanent results of memory retention like for example using when learners sing the days of the week it wont be easy for them to forget which day comes after which.

teachers should use arts integration to support learners in learning. to help learners have more meaning of what they are being taught. for learners to express through arts what they understand by what has being taught

teaching and learning of music is essential and to address the issue of inclusivity in the classroom.

learners are not the same, different learners from different family background, culture, socioeconomic status and family structure so an be used as a tool to combat many issues. we can use music education to teach learners to appreciate this difference in them through music

using music to make every learner feel welcomed, loved, appreciated and special by making use of different sounds of music from different cultures to teach elements like pitch, texture, duration and so on.
