A day in my life.

I start my day by opening my eyes, I wake up by seeing the sun shining into my room, I hear the birds singing in the trees, I smell my mom’s delicious pancakes in the kitchen, and I feel my soft blanket that’s keeping me warm. I stretch my arms above my head and take a deep breath, ready to seize the opportunities that lies ahead for me that day. I drink my warm cup of coffee my mom made me when se came and woke me up, I drink it sip for sip because it usually is steaming hot.

After waking up I walk to my closest and decide what to wear that day, then I go to the bathroom I brush my teeth 2 minutes on the top and 2 minutes on the bottom. I wash my face with all my different face washes and then do my makeup, and decide what earrings fit my outfit for the day. I then spend my time with the Lord before I go to my first class.

I then drive to campus and attend my classes I have to attend that day. After my classes I go back home and make myself some lunch, usually something big because all the classes drained me. After I ate lunch, I do my study time, I go through the work I did that day and just summarise it again to make sure I remember everything. Then I prepare for my classes I will be having tomorrow. A cup of chia tea is a necessity when i’m doing my work.

After that I put on my gym clothes and drive to my friends house, I pick her up and we always stop at the Plato coffee shop before we go to gym and grab a smoothie, the peanut butter banana honey and oats one is my ultimate favourite. We then do our session in the gym.

When our gym session is done I drop my friend again, and go back home. I usually help my mom with dinner, and help my little sister with the homework she didn’t finish at school that day. I take a bath after that and put on my warm fluffy pyjamas and then go sit for dinner with my family. Sharing what we experienced that day is my favourite part.

Before I go to bed I brush my teeth and then do my Bible Study again. I then say my prayers and thank the Lord for another day. I get into my bed I close my eyes and then find my perfect boyfriend in dreamland.

Ethnic Groups

Ethnic group

There have been many beliefs in the past. Through generations, from family to family house to house, but the question I have is where do these beliefs come from ? Beliefs are things that people believe in, things they might have been taught that this is what they should believe by their parents at a young age. Different beliefs are endogenous to a certain ethnic group and it’s not something usual if different groups have the same beliefs. When looking at different beliefs inside a certain group you should still be aware of your preconceptions your assumptions and your point of view towards it.

From my ethnic group i was taught different beliefs which can all be seen as endogenic. A belief i was taught is that the seventh day of the week is seen as the “holy” day, we should rest and are not allowed to work on this day no physical labour is allowed to happen on this day. We usually come together as a family on this day, we share a meal after we went to church that morning. This belief is still active in my life till today.

Another belief I was taught is that the man of the house should be the provider for the home, he’s suppose to work to provide for his family, while the mother of the house is suppose to stay at home and raise the children and care for them. Men are suppose to be the protection and provision of a house, but now a days it’s not a thing anymore. And Women are there for caring, and raising of the children.

There is still so many beliefs I was taught, and that other cultures and religions were taught throughout their lives, each and every one of those beliefs carries importance to someone, every individual has their own belief’s and sees it as important therefore we should respect each other’s beliefs. We should always be aware of our prejudices, our assumptions and our preconceptions to avoid conflict between families and cultures.

My type of networkd

My type of networks

In our lives we encounter with some sort of network whether it’s on your phone or the network we use to see and meet people everyday. Every person has their own network and use them in their own manner. Some people who may form part of the network might be closer than other who don’t. Like for instance I am much closer to certain people I have more connection to than with others through the network.

There are people that I see on a daily basis, that form part of the outer network, they are not so close. They are the people I greet when I walk pass them, or the person I walk pass by when I do my weekly shopping, or even the person who’s serving me in the restaurant when i’m out with the people more closer to me. These people don’t play a major role in my life, but they form part of my story. No main character just a person in the background of the story.

The closer network, that still isn’t your closest friends is formed by people i encounter more frequently. For example these are the people I have met in my different classes, but they aren’t so close that I would tell them my whole life story or all my deepest secrets. But they do make going to class better for me, and keep me entertained in the class.

The network that is most important to me is my closest network. These people are the closest to me, and play the biggest role in my life. They are main characters in my life story. My family is the closest to me, and they play a big role in who I am today. If it weren’t for them I wouldn’t be the women I am today.

We all experience networks in different ways. They also have their own way of having connections with people, every person have their own unique way of having a relationship, and that’s what makes relationships so nice because you won’t have one relationship that’s the same as another. We all have networks, with people all around us.

stereotyping

I would define stereotype as having a particular belief or image over people but most of the time it's unfair. I had this belief that all rugby boys are arrogant, disrespectful and just over all idiots. The reason therefore is because I have met so 2 guys in particular that had these judge egos and thought so much about themselves i could barely have a conversation with them. They made me feel like I wasn't worthy enough to talk to them , they made me feel like I was such a waste of their time. And because of 2 childish boys , they gave me no other choice but to think that every rugby guy is the same ! They all think the world owe them something and that drives me CRAZY !!!!! So ironically enough , one day I met this guy , yes he is a rugby player , and no he wasn't arrogant or anything like that , instead he was the complete opposite of what a rugby player was supposed to be according to me. He was gentle, sweet, respectful, humble and the list goes on. And from that day I realized that it's completely unfair of me to shave everyone under the same comb. Who am I to judge you even before I know you. And I didn't realize I was busy stereotyping , I genuinely thought that my image and believe was correct and valid till someone proved me wrong. it's very easy to stereotype , but it's also very easy to change your point of view and the perspective from which you look at something or someone. You should just be able to drop your haughtiness and give every person individually the opportunity to prove themself to you and only then can you form your own opinion about them.
