having come from a pedi background, my first teaching is that of focusing on my being as a part of an entire system of people who all have their part to play as a member of contemporary society, I should not focus on my individualism and rather do so on focusing on collectivism of the society I'm in. my second is focus on my self as an individual being, this is the result of the type of neighborhood I live in back home, this place does not allow for collectivistic growth, it is characterized by hypocritical neighbors who do not want to see anyone grow and always want to outshine others. these two teachings make for a yin and yang type of being where I focus on both myself and those around me resulting in a wholistic and individualistic approach toward growth
