The NWU provides different recreation possibilities for its students as well as the surrounding community, yet it falls short when it comes to leisure opportunities. They prioritize their pupils' well-being and aim to accommodate as many kids as possible. Typical leisure programs provided by the NWU range from high-performance activities to healthy activities and include rugby, netball, hockey, soccer, and tennis. The university features rock climbing walls, squash courts, basketball courts, and badminton courts. They additionally operate a gym on campus with low-cost memberships.

International institutions such as Yale, Oxford, and California provide a far greater choice of leisure and recreation services. These universities are much larger than the NWU and are located in different countries and settings, so the recreational and leisure activities offered by those three institutions are much more extensive and diverse, unlike the NWU, which offers rugby as a sport, but those universities offer football and basketball as official sports.

When it involves dealing with the growth of the student's needs, we can all agree that the NWU's services might be improved, but what they already offer is excellent, and they are successful in the well-being of their students. They allow kids to be themselves while while balancing their demanding academic commitments and athletics. Students have ample free time to enjoy doing something they like, socializing, and figuring out who they want to be and what impression they want to make on others. As a result, students can have a good transition from high school to university, as well as a great stage of emerging maturity to prepare them for life after high school.
