The NWU focuses on recreational sports which contain residence league, recreational events, mind sports, and NWU conditioning. Recreational sports such as netball, rugby, soccer, etc.

The three universities that I have chosen are the University of Pennsylvania, Rice university, and The university of Texas at Austin.

All three universities focus on holistic health, quality of life and physical as well as mental well-being. The university has a specific recreation centre where all the activities take place whereas at North West University there is one allocated space for recreation activities.

The recreational sports that the NWU prioritise provides a vehicle for inclusion, drawing together people of different races, religions and cultures. Sports empower, inspire and motivate individuals to achieve. The NWU lacks in a certain areas of recreation because it only covers a certain part of recreation programmes. Sports is not everyone's interest, therefore, programmes such as arts, dance and music should be implemented. These activities are available but it's very limited and the students are not aware of. Create opportunities for students to engage in these activities this way interest will grow and the recreation field can grow bigger. Interaction between the three different campusses is achieved through the inter-campus day where the universities, play different sport together. This event plays the role of a tool that brings people together. The university also have the multi-purpose undergroud courts where basetball, netball and sqaush can be played on. This courts has been used for tournoments such as the inter- campus basketball and the Varsity Cup netbal finals last year.

Recreation at the North West University is standard but they have take into consideration that stuents have different interest. Recreational sport is beneficial for a individuals physical development and modility. Events such as residence sports and varsity rugby, netball and hockey units the students. It creates a sense of diversity due to the fact that evryone is welcomed and is representing and supporting their university.

Recreation is more than just sport and if the North West University can grow their recreation options it can only be benificial towards the university and their students.
