Accepting Social and Group Responsibilities One of the fundamental lessons I learned growing up in a close-knit ethnic group is the importance of community and shared responsibility, which has had a tremendous impact on my worldview. This idea is engrained in our cultural fabric and shows up in a variety of contexts, including everyday encounters and larger social systems. **First Lesson: The Ubuntu Philosophy** This collective belief is embodied in the notion of Ubuntu, which comes from the Nguni Bantu languages of Southern Africa. Ubuntu, which translates to "I am because we are," is a concept that emphasises the close relationship between a person's identity and achievement and the welfare of the community as a whole. This lesson focuses on how interrelated we are as human beings and how our deeds should benefit society as a whole. Having grown up with Ubuntu, I discovered that societal successes are regarded as personal accomplishments. This idea encourages people to assist one another and feel a sense of belonging, which motivates them to improve the well-being of their communities. It has helped me understand the value of empathy, teamwork, and working together to solve social issues. In actuality, this entails giving community projects top priority, patronising nearby companies, and engaging in group activities, all of which contribute to the development of social links and a resilient, encouraging atmosphere. Lecture 2: Seniors as Keepers of Knowledge
My ethnic community also holds the important idea that seniors are the guardians of wisdom and should be revered. The foundation of this instruction is the belief that older people have invaluable life experiences and wisdom that is essential for mentoring newer generations. discovered that societal successes are regarded as personal accomplishments. I was raised with the values of respecting elders and paying attention to their wisdom because I believe that their wisdom is crucial to preserving peace and continuity in the community. I have a great regard for tradition and a great appreciation for intergenerational conversation because of this idea. It has also brought to light the value of tolerance, modesty, and an openness to picking up tips from those who have gone before us. My approach to problem-solving and decision-making has been impacted by this instruction in practice. I've learnt to be open to different viewpoints and respect the advice of people with greater life experience. This has not only deepened my awareness of a variety of topics, but it has also emphasised how crucial it is to preserve cultural history and wisdom. Moulding My lifetime education. All things considered, these convictions have helped me to cultivate deep connections, respect different viewpoints, and work towards leading a harmonious and balanced life. They act as a continual reminder of the value of customs, community, and the connection of all human experience.
I woke up this morning still not feeling refreshed as i usually do , but luckily i only had one class.
I woke up in the res with a phone call from my friend staying in a different blok as I do asking if I want some breakfast, we then went to mug and bean and drank coffee, a quiet start to the day as we were talking about our recess plans, we then went back to hostel only to find loud music playing throughout every blok of the res , and it was obvious that the first year concert kids were practicing again.
As the time arrived for my psychology class i had to get my motivation to go , as i get there i have no motivation left in me and still have to study for 4 tests i am writing in recess , as i get back to hostel i quickly run to my friend to have a chat and then i start working till about 6 , then i went to the shops and then me and my hostel mom played some chess before i had to start working again
As i was working I realised my best friend from back at home is leaving the country today and i felt gut wrenched so me and my other friend went to varsity cafe to go get some ice cream
