Beliefs that are endogenous to my ethical group, and have shaped my worldview.

I am proud to mention that I come from a tribe that is known as a nation of peace, and that is rooted in its culture and tradition.

The role that every individual plays is not just for their immediate family but in society or community as a whole, the whole village cannot be taken for granted, meaning to say that we/every individual is taught to portray the same behavior we give off in our families.

We, the Sotho children are taught life lessons from a young age through the stories that were steepened in the myth of our elders, and also to mention that it was of educational tool to guide young ones and a way of teaching obedience.

Drawing from ' Blinded by Sight' literature, I now believe that we tend to think that we know without knowing. Where would I have learned about the endogenous to my ethical group if it wasn't for the myths that were repeated to us?

I believe that my childhood experiences are the ones that shaped my worldview as I have retained many things that molded my radical worldview in most cases.

How othering is created

Othering refers to the creation of differences between hierarchal groups, it can be by stigmatization etc.

I believe that Wainaina's writing (How to write about Africa) was to refute Western writers who thought of Africa as primitive. In his writing he included the words "darkness, safari, gorillas and tribal" as the emphasis of how Western writers were stereotyped and how they stigmatized Africa.

According to (Body and Ritual among the Nacirema), the word "Nacirema" is the name "American" spelled backwards and it was said that anthropologists did that as a way of criticizing other cultures and so as other countries beliefs.

Mallence Bart-Williams emphasized both negative and positive stereotypes in her talk. She puts those negative stereotypes about Africa to rest by mentioning the "Riches of Sierra Leone" that is said to be the richest country in the entire world, situated in Africa, the richest continent. She included the resources that are found in Africa and the dependency of Africa's resources to refute those who consider Africa as the poor continent and also the 'Economic growth in Africa'.

Chimamanda mentioned how her roommate in America was shocked that she could use an iron and the stove although she came from Nigeria, in Africa. This gives us, viewers (from Africa) a glimpse of how outdated we are considered in the Western parts of the world.

In conclusion, the creation of othering was based on the generalizations made by the Western writers who haven't been to places that they downgrade, referring them to as primitive and outdated.
