A day in the life of Vuyo.

Life is beautiful, life is interesting, but to see its beauty we must open our eyes and witness its elegance. As I get up in the morning I open my  curtains and windows to witness the sun kiss the mountains, hear the birds chirping in the distance and feel the morning  breeze hit softly on my face. I feel a rush of adrenalin in my body as I hear the clicking sound of the kettle turning on, although I hadn't had my coffee yet. Taking a sip of my coffee brought an image of a friend of mine, who I have to blame for my undying desire for coffee on a daily basis. The intoxicating smell bringing me home and the warmth lightly reminding me of my mother. As always I start my day with a song that resonates with me depending on the day, and then it starts.

I got ready for class in a hurry because of my inability to keep track of time, I'm always reminded of my younger self because of this. I attended all my classes like a young boy who was obliged to, and nothing out of the ordinary occurred during this time. I went to the library for some time, not only to study, but to also catchup on my music listening journey. Time and time again getting lost in the instrumentals of beautiful melodies which I can only imagine what inspired their production, whatever it was, it was enough to make me believe that I was alone in the room.

After what I would call an ordinary day I went home, and lay flat on the bed, letting every muscle relax after a long day of baking in the sun in between classes. My roommate was sitting in the opposite side of the room, on his phone, as I was, and this is when I saw something that went on to start a debate which lasted for almost an hour. It was a video of a conspiracy theorist who asked the question "If the Earth is round and its really rotating and revolving around the sun, why do we see the same sky every night?", now this just instantly blew my mind, I showed my roommate the video and little did I know, I had started something. My roommate believed that this was enough to conclude that the earth was flat, I countered his statement saying we see the same sky because everything in our solar system revolves around the sun. The conversation went on and on and even led to demonstrations that made a bit of sense, NASA should take some notes. after minutes of theories and hypotheses, we finally consulted google, and as it turns out, we don't see Orion's belt every night, just during the summer. The devastating thought of the minutes of arguing wasted on something we could have looked up from the start hit me. It was an interesting debate though, which really opened our eyes to how research should be done, and why we should  not believe everything we see on social media.
