On this blog I'm going to write about stereotype which can be defined as an unreasonable and false belief  that many people have about an  individual or objects that contain a particular characteristic.

Stereotype can lead to the danger of a Single Story like In chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's case whereby she grew up reading foreign books that mostly consisted of white characters which led her into believing that all books are supposed to to have foreign characters and also believed that black characters are not supposed to be in books . But that changed after she started reading African books and realized that black characters fit very well in books.

Like I who grew up in a rural area where it was believed that a man is the one that is supposed to work and provide for his family while a woman stays at home and bears children. That made me believe that this is how things are supposed to be and will ever be. But that came to an end when the percentage of indent woman increased and I realized that there is absolutely nothing wrong with a woman being Independent. 

In conclusion,  stereotype has affected my life even if it was indirect but it affected my way of thinking and viewing things. The fact that I thought that i would also end up as a stay at home mom proves that I indeed am a victim of the danger of a Single Story.
