Where I learn from.

As a Zulu speaking person born and bred in KwaZulu Natal, there is a certain way I go and comprehend things based on the way I was brought about. This then goes a long way to how I see the world now.

First and foremost I will commence by highlighting the Primary socialization where I talk about my childhood within the family, this first level is the most influential to me and I believe to every young person when growing up. Primary socialization helped me in terms of gender roles and knowing that as a Zulu boy there are some certain things that I do not do.
I value the community to the point that even if I am not familiar with somebody but I still need to respect that anyways. With that being said it does not only mean I respect my elders but even my peers and those younger that me I give them the same respect. We were taught that respect is the way forward and that should you show respect towards other people you will be blessed and live longer. The other reason I show respect is because I want my family to be looked in a beautiful way that the have raised a well mannered man.

Secondary socialization
In this socialization it is where I am going to talk about my interaction in school and environment when growing up and the things which I discovered that shaped my ethnicity. As I grew up and had started school I moved to Gauteng, in Johannesburg(Alexandra) and again I was put in a space that I had to learn the way things are done because I was coming from a very different place. I learned new ways to approach life and to survive the streets, the are many ways to go about when you live with many different people of different tribes but the same respect I was taught at home was one of the the things which carried me and led me to where I am today. In Jozi you have to to have a different way of speaking, must be fluent and stand to your words in that way you will survive dangers of the city. Other than that, there are also many good things that were done in Alexandra to teach us about our culture because they understand that we all come from different places so they had to find a way to make us not forget our roots.

We would engage in parks during weekend as a Zulu tribe and sing along our Zulu songs and practice our dances, this was maybe done once after three months and there would be appointed older people to monitor and guide us throughout this and some would go as far as teaching us about our history and teach us the importance of loving one another. I believe this is the reason Zulu people are regarded as people who are caring because we are taught this from our childhood until we are old.

Conclusion.
These teachings have helped me to be able to live with different people and avoid situations that would endanger my life at any cost.
