For a long time as an African the story I knew was that Africa was a place filled with cavemen who just ran around naked all day and they lived in a primitive society where all they did was just hunt animals and live in the bushes till Europeans came to Africa and "saved" coming with technology and a "proper" way of living.
This story was one that I never questioned because it only made sense till I started watching TedTalk presented Ngozi Adichie in my lecture room .After those 19 minutes of the video went by my whole mindset was changed ,in a way that made me question everything and the video made me realize that us as humans are not living of what we think is right and wrong as a population and race but rather we go off what is right and wrong based on what a small group of individuals think is right and wrong .Since I was kid, I always had the stereotype installed in my head that people of Africa didn't have any laws and lacked wealth before colonisation, but it was to my surprise when I found out that Africa was striving due to all the minerals that Africa had like diamonds and gold.
This stereotype was completely shattered when I found out that Africa had many of the richest men to ever walk on this earth like Mansa Musa who thrived without European "help". To go on further trade unions in Africa were successful and Africans did not just run around naked, but they wore beautiful clothing and were wrapped in pearls and jewels.
